As for me: Rich and I went to see the movie Sideways at the new Century 16 cinema in Beaverton. I highly recommend this film - I think Paul Giamatti deserves Best Actor for it. It is very entertaining while being utterly realistic in every emotional detail. It's the story of 2 forty-something guys off for a week of winetasting in California, each with a different agenda. It made me go out and buy some pinot noir. It earns it's R rating for sex and language, but it's a refreshing slice of life low on violence and high on real human emotions and experiences.
TV: Now that I have my VCRs both working and figured out Comcast Digital's "record" feature, I'm being sure not to miss Long Way Round, Mythbusters, The Amazing Race, Survivor, and The Apprentice. Ewan reaches the end of the road next Thursday.
On Tape: I watched my DVD of Moulin Rouge again on Wednesday. It had been many months. Ah, the best movie of all time (unless you hate Nicole Kidman...as for me, I really don't notice anybody in it but Mr. McGregor).
Reading: I'm reading the Long Way Round book as well as watching the TV show. On my MP3 Player I'm listening to the fourth book of the "Master and Commander" series of seagoing tales.
Pets: I enjoyed meeting my sister's new kitten at Thanksgiving, an utterly adorable little black and gray tabby, almost as sweet, cute and playful as Carolyn's cat was as a kitten. Meanwhile, the neighbor cat Nipper has usurped our garage cat heating pad and our cat Hershey can't seem to dislodge him.

Well this is a cool idea, Wendy. I have no brilliant thoughts to add, but the movie sounds intriguing. I am taking Steve to see Finding Neverland. ITs our anniversary/ Has anyone seen this movie?

I'm the retard who removed her own posting! I'm still getting used to a laptop that has one of those touch pads instead of a mouse. I touched the pad when the arrow was over the delete button - Dang!!
Anyway... We started to watch VanHelsing last night - predictible. Cool scenery, okay special effects but what is with The Brides? Bats with PMS - geez. We stopped it midway so Erick could go to sleep. We'll try again before bed tonight.
Wendy, I'd love to borrow Long Way Round if you are so inclined. I read a review in Outdoor Magazine and was intrigued to say the least. Drool!
Anyone else have good books to recommend? I've put a few of the movies people have recommended on my Netflix list - haven't watched any yet but will let you know.
Yes, Krista - I'll have all 6 episodes on tape on Thursday, although they are on 2 tapes in sort of weird order. Forgive me, all other men, but Ewan just being Ewan is truly fabulous. And that is very unusual for an actor!
Hello Gang - Yesterday I received my 1st issue of The Washington Post. I've no idea if it's my kind of reading but after the last Presidential election, I realized that I needed to be more educated. So tonight it's me, the fake-fire and The Post (and a glass of wine in Wendy's honor). Anyone read it before?
And no, we didn't watch the rest of VanHelsing. Erick was too tired and I wasn't so I watched another episode of The X-Files while he slept. Smiled the whole way through. Some of them are so creepy and some of them are like creepy-candy.
Well, I'm off to balance the checkbook and then to The Post. TTFN
